Drip, Drip, Drip

All you fellow New Mexicans ... we found the rain that we so badly need ... it's wherever we've been and wherever we are!!

Saturday, May 24th:

We traveled from Texas to the Riverview RV Park in Sand Springs OK.  We grabbed the first place we could find since it was Memorial weekend.  The park was built from an old quarry and was up on a bluff with claims to be able to see the Arkansas River.  That was a bit of a stretch of the imagination.  We got set up and were happy to just veg a bit.  Just before retiring for the evening as Bruce took Zoey out for one last 'potty' trip, I managed to do the inevitable ... fall.  As those of you who know me well, I have a knack for being clumsy.  I was trying to fix the fluorescent light in the bathroom, couldn't reach it, stepped onto the toilet {in my slipper socks] to sit on the sink and slipped and fell from the height of the sink right onto my back/butt and cracked the back of my head on the floor.  That's where Bruce found me when he got back.  I was okay but just didn't want to move too quickly.  Hopefully now that I got that out of the way, I won't fall again!

We spent Sunday (25th) and Monday(26th) relaxing, doing laundry and also sightseeing a little.  Spent some time at Keystone Lake where Zoey discovered water, fish and ducks.

Also drove to the Rock Cafe in Stroud.  One of our favorite shows is Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins with Guy Fieri; he had stopped at this cafe so we thought we'd check it out.  The reviews we read were mixed ... and so were we.  We tried Fried Pickles for the first time (salty, crispy but greasy) and Bruce had the Spaetzle and noodles and I had Chicken Fried steak.  Both were okay ($$$), and Bruce commented that we had just consumed our grease allotment for the year!  We had decided before we left NM that we wanted to get off the interstate occasionally to see the "lay of the land" (thanks Nate) and believe me, we found it today.  When we left Keystone Lake to go to Stroud, I managed to navigate us down some dirt roads and even over two wooden bridges!!

I guess they gave up on people writing on the bathroom walls; they supply the pens!

  1. 1.) BE CAREFUL, JEAN!
2.) Driving that motorhome will be easier than you think. Just be mindful about turning corners and changing lanes. You are "longer" than you think!
3.) I have been on lots of GPS adventures! You can set the newer ones to avoid dirt and toll roads, drive the fastest or the easiest on gas routes, and a number of other things.

I always have a roadmap in the vehicle with me... But I do have tales to tell about those GPS adventures!
