August 3rd until mid-morning of September 9th

Our new home for over a month!

We are back in Byron, New York at the SouthwoodsResort and Campground.  One of Bruce’s friends from his high school days had a vision years ago … looking out over a large tract of wooded land, he envisioned a resort campground.  He and his wife put in years together building this beautiful spot, and to say it is a success is an understatement.  As of today, there are 400 people on a waiting list to get a permanent site here!  We had checked into the resort before we left for the islands but in order to stay here, we would have had to move 5 times in a month.  However, the morning we left the islands, we received a call from them telling us that they had had a cancellation, and we were going to get one of the nicest spots in the park and not have to move.  We were very thankful for that piece of news.

It’s fun to watch the open field fill up with RV’s and campers on Friday and then vacate on Monday.  The pace picks up what with all the adults chatting and kids playing.  It tends to get thick with wood smoke – something I can’t get enough of!  Mr. says it’s polluting the air, but I love it!  I've had one successful fire and one that didn't do so good.  I'd never be a good contestant on "Survivor!"

I would love a tad more sunshine ... but it's okay.  It's "home."

Even had a beautiful spot to see the moon rise.  (Hey my friends at Jubilee ... I miss the hot tub, the wine and the company!)
