January 15th - 24th - Morningside RV Estates, Dade City, Florida

Morningside RV Estates, Dade City, FL

You may not know this, but the only reservation that we had made before reaching Florida was the one at Bee's.   And I kept reading on my Facebook RV group pages that it would be impossible to find a place to stay.  However, when you Google RV Camping in Florida on Google maps, you get thousands of little red dots showing you where they all are.  So, Bruce wasn't worried - me, that's a different story!!

Anyway, I read about Morningside RV Estates in a post on Facebook, checked out the website, called, got us a spot, and used the coupon on the website to save money.  $169.00 for a week!!  Not too bad!

Look at the size of that tree!!

This park was an excellent choice!

While there, we drove to Tampa twice (Saturday and Sunday) to the 2015 RV Show.

I  started taking pictures of the rigs, etc., but decided  I wanted to enjoy myself and not worry about getting pictures.

The first day we looked at the coaches - the Prevost's and Foretravel's ($$$$$$$$$) were inside and you had to remove your shoes to go inside to see them.  While we were waiting our turn to see the Prevost, they closed it down so a Private individual could go through it!!

Then we went outside and tried to see as many as we could, keeping an eye on our time because Zoey has to be left behind in the RV.  We saw lots of coaches (Newell, Newmar, Tiffin, & Entrega) getting lots of walking in and going up and down the stairs to enter every vehicle.  Both of our hips hurt by the end of the day!

The second day we concentrated on the "stuff" for sale in the Supplier Buildings A & B.  Up and down one aisle after another looking at this and that.  I found a great desk to put in the coach, some kitchen gadgets I could use, and some cutesy outdoor things to put by your RV but didn't buy a thing!  We did sign up to become members of FMCA (Family Motor Coach of America).  The couple who registered us travel to Albuquerque every year for the balloon fiesta to volunteer.  This year she is in charge of the Golf Carts and is always looking for volunteers to drive them.  Let me know if you are interested.

We were just getting ready to leave when we saw a fifth-wheel that we had never heard of - New Horizon.  Wow!  If I had to do over again, I think I would have wanted to go with this fifth wheel.  New Horizon is a small manufacturer who custom builds your fifth wheel.  They are located in Kansas.  They had two models with them.  I liked parts of each.  The superior craftsmanship was very evident. Here is a link to the Majestic - it was at the show. You can see that it looks just like a home inside.  Oh well, our 2013 Thor Tuscany is our home on wheels now, and we're pretty lucky to have it!

The owner of New Horizon RV drove this $83,000 Dodge Ram 5500 to the show.  After chatting with him at great length about the quality of his product and swapping stories, he gave Bruce his keys and told him to go sit in it and try it out.  My, talk about a nice truck!  That's why I always thought Bruce would want a fifth wheel - because he'd get a new truck out of it!!
On Monday, we both went to the dentist to get our teeth cleaned.  We have discovered that in order to get our teeth cleaned, we have to have a full set of x-rays and a visit by the dentist.  I don't know if this is the "law" in every state, but it was this way in North Carolina and here in Florida.  We didn't want all that; all we wanted was to get them cleaned.  However, we had no choice. Daughter Shelly gave me an excellent idea --use Groupon.  Groupon  runs specials for the above services, you pay out of pocket, we got our teeth cleaned and left the x-rays behind!  Only $35.00 each.  Well worth it - except now I get all kinds of annoying emails several times a day from them bugging me about buying more.

We also went to see our friends from high school, Bob and Carol.  They live in Lakeland, and also have a home in Delaware.  We enjoyed the chance to reconnect, chat, and play a couple of games of euchre.  I forgot to take a picture so Carol sent me this one that they used for their Christmas cards this year.  She also fixed us a yummy homemade meat loaf/mashed potatoes dinner!

I forgot - Bruce did buy something extra at the RV show.  It's a gadget that is supposed to help us stream television and movies.  He spent a whole day working and experimenting with it but we were close to running out of gigs on our Verizon JetPack, he had to quit for now.  He didn't get it to work yet.

One day we tried to take a drive to the coast but the traffic was so bad, we just gave it up.  It's nothing like the outer banks of North Carolina here!

And one day it poured buckets and buckets of rain.  Again, we have not been impressed with our time in Florida - weather-wise.  I think the rain is continuing to follow us everywhere we go!
