"One Day at a Time, 2015" ..... Caught Up!! .....
I forgot to blog about our Memorial Day!
We went to the town of Byron’s parade and met
Neal, Bev, Cheri and Andrew there to enjoy Chicken BBQ afterwards. Cheri and Andrew participated in the Duck
Race while Bruce and I tried to win the entire set of Garth Brooks CD’s in the
Chinese auction. (We found out later our
friend Dave had won it.) They had a very
interesting array of items in their auction.
This benefited the Byron Fire Department. I thought I had taken a nice long video of
the small parade only to discover that I still need to learn how to use the camera!

Our big event on June 7th was to go to the newly
opened Costco store here in the Rochester area.
We had a LOT of shopping to do. I
love the way Costco matches up some of the food items it sells in their stores
with the region you live in. Here in
Rochester you can buy German Potato Salad and Zweigle Pop Open Hot Dogs in the
Deli case, and they serve an Italian Sausage sandwich with grilled peppers and
onions in the Food Court! Yummy!!
We had some unexpected dental visits for Bruce after he lost
parts of an old crown (gold!!)(I saved it!!).
We enjoyed a fish fry (another western NY favorite) with our
friends Pat and Dave and especially enjoyed playing euchre with them
afterwards.
I helped Carol serve the Chicken BBQ at the Bergen Festival
on Saturday, June 13th. I’ve
told Bruce that back here, we could go every Saturday or Sunday to a church
festival for a good cause and enjoy Chicken BBQ or Pulled Pork. How can you beat ½ of a chicken, salt
potatoes, Cole slaw, and homemade rolls for $10.00. This festival also included music during the
evening. The band was excellent! I believe it was called Blue Jimmy.
Our friend Dan asked me to take some pictures of his “stuff”
and put it on Craig’s List for him.
While taking the pictures of this “stuff,” I took a few shots of his shop. I could never, ever come up with a
description; you will just have to look!
Bruce and I went to see my Aunt Dottie again and the second
time I remembered to take a picture. I
think she has gotten a little shorter!!
She is 95 years young!!
Father’s Day here at the campground provided all with a Car
Show (unfortunately not well attended by cars) and the Mercy Flight helicopter
made a landing. If you checked out David
Bott’s page that I mentioned in a previous blog, you can see the flight
etc.
We met some very nice folks over the course of this past
week. Nadine and Bill live in
Pennsylvania and are contemplating RV full time travel in the future. This is one of the best parts about this
experience … meeting new friends and sharing stories.
Our time here at Southwoods will be coming to a close soon,
and we still have places to go and people to see!!
