"One Day at a Time, 2015” ….. North Carolina …..(November 29 - December 14) ..... Statesville

November 29, 2015 - Travel Day, 126 Google Miles - Sunday after Thanksgiving
November 30 - December 14

Traveling day to Statesville didn't take long at all.  We got a fairly early start (for us) and were thankful we didn't have far to go as the "busiest travel day of the year" lived up to its name on the interstate in North Carolina.

We pulled into our "free" campground for the duration of our stay .... the parking lot at our niece and her husband's business.  They installed 50 amp electric for us and already had water and a sewer hookup.  We are so very fortunate!  The closest campground that we could have gotten was not close enough when you are trying to spend quality time with your family; this will make it much easier for all of us to connect!  They are such good kids, and we are so very lucky!

Bruce and I are not planning to do any sight-seeing here; we just want to spend quality time with family!  Our first evening found us at Bruce's sisters home, having a delicious roast beef dinner and then playing euchre.  It would be the first of many times playing our favorite card game with some of our favorite partners.  Joyce and I started out in the lead, as we usually do, winning two games to their one, but as the weeks progressed, our lead diminished quickly.

On Sunday, December 6th, I wanted to host a party for the whole family.  Yes, we probably could have fit all 9 of us in our motor coach, but Tammy convinced me to use the store for our little party.  She obviously had a lot more space than I did and also had football on their TV; we were unable to get the right channels in our RV.  I cooked up a storm (for me, anyway), and we had a great time eating, laughing, telling stories, and watching football.

During the week I went shopping with Joyce a couple of times, and Bruce was able to fix the driver side front mirror.  Somehow it had become loose after our trip to Indiana and Thor headquarters - of course, after we were there - but he came up with a way to remedy the problem.

Mostly we just caught up with family, played cards, and enjoyed the heck out of each other!!!

Please excuse my blurry pictures.  My niece's daughter, Megan, showed me how to take better pictures on my phone ... but not until the last day that we were there!!

Joyce's house decorated with all of her snowmen!

Bruce and his little sister!

Oh, I forgot -- Sophie, too!

Playing euchre.

We kept telling her that she didn't have to feed us, but we're glad she didn't listen!  This meal is ten times better than a meal out.  Oh, by the way, it's meat loaf.  Sorry, Bret!!

These pictures are in the Creative Carpets, LLC warehouse for our little gathering that Bruce and I hosted.  We had a big pot of beans, Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas, Salad, Snacks, and Berry Cobbler - all made in my motor coach.

They have been doing carpet, tile and wooden floors for some time and have recently started selling cabinetry and backspashes -- a one stop shop!

Can you guess whose head belongs to Bruce, Paul, Tammy?

We all gathered to celebrate the 24th Anniversary of the entire Paul/Tammy/Megan/Matthew/Molly family.  It isn't until the 28th of December but this was a great day to celebrate!  It's not just the mom and dad's anniversary, but the kids anniversary as well.  :)

This threesome was an accident waiting to happen!

Joyce prepared the entire dinner for her daughter and family.  It was yummy!!!

We were goofing around.  This is Megan as a sweet southern gal!

Bruce's sister did it to us again!  She is so good at finding the right gift.  Here is Bruce wearing his new hat.

And she listened to me while we were shopping and I mentioned that I like the LED candles!

Game night!  Unfortunately, this game didn't prove to be the best for the ages involved.  So we switched to Scrabble.

So, besides supplying us with a complete hookup for 15 days - saving us hundreds of dollars - Paul and Tammy gave us a remnant from their store.  Paul even cut it into two pieces for us and then bound it.  It makes the RV look even "richer" while keeping our feet warmer.  We had hesitated about putting a rug down because we didn't want to cover up the beautiful porcelain tile, but I'm sure glad we have this now.

THANKS TO ALL OF OUR RELATIVES IN STATESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL VISIT!!
