August 1– Day 17 – 36.7 Google
KM – Short Travel Day
The Wayside Camping Park on Peggy's Cove Road in Glen Margaret, NS called us with a cancellation so we were able to stay in the area one more day! Whew! I was afraid we were going to have to leave before seeing this much-talked about and photographed site.
And I couldn't resist taking a picture of Miss Zoey as she enjoyed the grass and the babbling stream nearby.

As we left Hubbard's, I finally took a picture of the church that we had passed by many times.
And I couldn't resist taking a picture of Miss Zoey as she enjoyed the grass and the babbling stream nearby.

We packed up at Hubbard’s and drove 36.7 miles to Wayside –
and wished we had been here the whole time.
The campsites were much bigger and more private. Oh well, at least we could enjoy our one days’
worth.

We drove down to Peggy’s Cove and were not at all
disappointed. It was everything that everyone
had told us it would be and more since we were actually seeing it in person. After perusing the visitor center, doing lots
of walking, and taking lots of pictures (I even snapped a couple pictures of
some newlyweds), we returned to our RV. Tomorrow
would be a big travel day.

I told them we wished them as many years as we had been married .... almost 50 .... and they replied, "Wow." We've only been married 15 minutes!!
After dinner we decided to take a walk around the park, but we didn’t get very far before we met a lovely family over here from Germany. They had rented a Class C motor home from Cruise America and were trying to pack as much into their journey as possible. Dirk (dad), Caroline (mom), and their twins Rebecca and Florian were a delight to talk to, and we wished we had more time to chat with them. Since they had never seen the inside of a Class A diesel like ours, we invited them down to take a look. They said that one would never be able to drive a rig this size through many of the street of Frankfurt since it was so big. They were going to see Peggy’s Cove on Sunday and would also be traveling up to the Baddeck area of Nova Scotia where we were headed next. We bid them safe travels! We also had Eric and Linda stop in to say hello. They were from Canada and were admiring our rig.
Back on the road again!
This time we were moving further than we had in quite a while. We were headed to Adventures East CG
on Cape Breton Island part of Nova Scotia province. (Here is another link.) near Baddeck. (Here
is another link.) It was one of our “free” CGs, and we were
staying one week. We hoped to get the RV
cleaned up, the blog caught up, and some sightseeing done. We discovered the free Wi-Fi that was
advertised only worked sporadically so my hopes to catch up the blog dissipated. So we turned to seeing the “lay of the land.” There was so much to choose from!!

A view of the Canso Causeway
Once you cross into Cape Breton Island, there are five Trails you can take: the Cabot Trail, the Ceilidh Trail, the Bras d'or Lakes Scenic Drive, the Marconi Trail or the Fleur-de-Lis Trail. We saw parts of each.
And this is where we discovered that the awning that was "fixed" in Byron, NY before we left the USA did not work!!
