"One
Day at a Time, 2015" ..... Canada ..... July 16th - August 19th, 2015
July 21st – Day 6 – 325 Google KM – Travel Day
We left Camping Transit, Quebec Province, around 11:00
a.m. It was rainy on and off, then just
cloudy. We had totally forgotten about the
fact that the time would change; we are now on Atlantic Time. We arrived at St. Léonard Campground, New
Brunswick Province, parked, leveled, open our slides, and walked around the CG.
There was no website for this cg, and I
couldn’t find any pictures associated with it, but we felt it was quite
charming with a large pond and lots of “seasonal” campers (those who stay for
long periods of time). The pool is
heated by burning wood in a stove and circulating the pool water through a
pipe. Since we had been traveling most
of the day in mile after mile of treed land, I thought that was a pretty
inventive way to heat it. (No, I never
made it in.) We had a melodic brook
right next to our site that might have been why we had no trouble sleeping!
These two pictures are of the seasonals spots

| This is the stove that heats the wood that heats the water for the pool. I thought I got a better picture than that. |
July 22nd – Day 7 – 391 KM – Travel Day
It’s been interesting to see what each cg looks like that I chose sight unseen from investigating several websites (Passport America; Good Sam; Coast to Coast). And we always keep our fingers crossed that there are enough things to do at the cg we have chosen to stay longer at. It was hard to create an itinerary as neither of us knew very much about the Maritimes and had no Bucket List for Canada.

This cg has a large golf course, no pool and many seasonals, too. Our friends Eugene and Linda had given us a copy of their map and travel guide so we browsed through it looking to see if there was anything special to see here. We are only here for 2 nights, though, so we didn’t do much.
One day we went looking for the Acura dealership down in Moncton to get the part Bruce needs to fix the blower (for the air conditioning/heater in the car). When we got there, all we found was an empty building! Luckily for us, Kevin came out of the deserted building and gave us instructions on how to find the new dealership. He told us about the horrid winter that they had up there. We meet the nicest people! We drove through downtown Moncton thinking we might stop and see the Tidal Bore in the downtown area, but it was just too busy. Bruce ordered the part and it will be shipped to a future stop of ours. The only other thing both of us remember about our stay here was that it rained for pretty much all of one day, and we were constantly getting lost near the area of our cg.

July 24th – Day 9 - 332 KM – Travel Day
We are heading to Nova Scotia Province in a misty drizzle. Wet weather does seem to like us. The highway here is deplorable! My gosh, the bumps rattle your teeth!!
Our cg for the next 2 nights is called The Land of Evangeline Family Camping Resort in Wolfville and received mixed reviews online. When we pulled up, we could clearly tell that they were celebrating “Christmas in July” that weekend!! The cg was not even close to being a resort, but it would work. We took a ride after dinner to see “the lay of the land.” (This is what we like to do best – except it was damp and chilly and there was no heat in the car and we had to keep the windows open so that the windshield wouldn’t fog up!!) We drove out to The Lookoff and then took the road to the very end (Cape Split) where we enjoyed the sunset

July 25th – Day 10
On Saturday, we took a drive to Port George. I had read about the Port George Jamboree in one of the tourism booklets. It was advertised as “eleven hours of live country music entertainment, a giant all day flea market, finishing off with a ham-scalloped potato-bean supper.” Gosh, I’m so glad I read the brochure because we did have fun!!
When we got there we were fortunate to be able to park in the first row of cars that could see the stage. Since it was windy and spitting a little, we sat in the car for a while and listened to the music with the windows open. And that’s how we met George. He pulled in next to us and parked and got chatting with us. He was a “local” and had more stories to tell us about the area, the festival, etc. He couldn’t get over that we were from New Mexico. He knew everyone passing by and introduced us to many. He also assured us that we should not pass up the ham dinner. So, we stuck around until almost dark, enjoying the music, the dinner, and I even walked through all the flea market stuff.

On our way to Port George, we stopped at Margaretsville.

When we got back to our cg, a couple walking by our RV asked if they could take a peek inside, and that is how we met Paul and Jackie. What a great time we had with them!! We looked at our “home” and then they took us down to see their “home.” They own my second favorite type of RV – An Alfa See Ya. If you’ve never been in one, you need to check out their website. They stopped making them years ago during the “crash” but the employees banded together, bought the business, and you can still get parts and advice. It’s a very unique RV.
Jackie and Paul have 3 dogs and a bird traveling with them, and they have put some serious time and effort into decorating and remodeling this RV. I was a little envious of how cozy it looked! They hope to be full-timers soon. And Jackie makes the absolute best White Russians ever!! We talked and talked and never made it “home” until 1 am.
