"One Day at a Time, 2015” ….. North and South Carolina …..(November 17 & 18) ..... Travel Day & Arrival at Myrtle Beach)
November 17 .... First leg ......197 Google Miles, 3 hours 34 minutes to Walmart at Jacksonville, NC
It was hard to leave Waves and the beach. We had such a restful time there, I could have stayed a few more days.

This is the house that I thought was the one that was featured in the movie "Nights in Rodanthe" but when I looked that up on Google, I discovered that the original house had been moved. It is an interesting read from an interesting site. Check it out.

Goodbye Bodie Island lighthouse!
We departed around 10:36 a.m. and made a stop for diesel in Plymouth. It was challenging to stare at the Alligator River that ran along highway 64 for the turtles basking themselves on logs in the sunshine but I managed to see quite a few.
We arrived at the Walmart in Jacksonville around 4:00 p.m. I checked with the manager to make sure it was okay for us to park there, received permission, but just had to move over by the side near the treeline. We settled in and I went shopping; it's common knowledge among RVer's that after getting permission you should try to spend a little of your money there.
We ate dinner (leftover sandwich from the restaurant for me - yummier the second time around) (Bruce had leftovers, too.) and I was in my p.j.'s and reading in the bedroom by 7:00 p.m. We were fortunate to be able to pull in some local television stations so I was able to watch "The Voice" while Bruce watched his favorite PBS station. We were asleep by 10:15!
November 18 .... Second leg ......121 Google Miles, 2 hours 19 minutes to Briarcliffe RV Resort, Inc., Myrtle Beach, SC
This morning before we left Walmart, I saw a cat nearby. We had seen her the night before but when I called to her, she ran off - limping badly. Well this morning while Zoey and I were walking, I called out "kitty, kitty" and made "meow" sounds and three little heads popped out from the rocks nearby. They got a peek at Zoey and did a quick disappearing act. I do believe that some of the Walmart employees are taking care of that Mama and her babies because I spied a water dish and some food scattered on the ground.
We had an uneventful but pleasant drive along NC 17. Sometimes we drove through small towns and other times the road turned into an expressway of sorts. It's fun to see the small towns and I try to catch some of the crazy signage as we drive by; most of the time I'm not successful.
We stopped at the South Carolina Welcome Center, and Debbie was extremely helpful with directions and information about both Myrtle Beach and Charleston.

Look at the price of gas!!!
We were settled into our campsite and chatting with our neighbors by 5 p.m. and that's why I like to stop by 2:00. We took a walk around the park with Zoey, and I learned a valuable lesson ..... don't put your cell phone in your jeans pocket if you have paper money in it. Because when I went to take a picture somewhere along the walk route, I must have lost the $20.00 bill I had tucked into that same pocket. Boo Hoo! I hate losing money.

I haven't read about why this little chapel is in the RV park, but I had to take the picture. This is an expensive picture.
I'm writing this at 7:06 p.m. with the windows wide open and a lovely breeze entering our "apartment on wheels." Tomorrow they are calling for a lot of rain, and after that a cold front is supposed to move in (not cold like in winter where some of you are, but cold as in from 77 degrees today to 56 degrees by Sunday). It's hard to complain when you feel like you're always on vacation! I need to start reading all the information I got today so we can see what we want to see!
