November 15

Another beautiful day for a ride.  By the way, even though it looks absolutely gorgeous out, you've probably noticed we all have on jackets/sweater/sweatshirts.  That's because on the Outer Banks, the wind NEVER stops blowing!!  And if it comes from the north, it can be pretty chilly.

Today we drove down as far as we could on Route 12 - to the town of Hatteras.  We had debated with taking a ferry over to Oracoke Island, but we just couldn't get "steamed" up about it so we let that idea go for some other time.  (Here's the link to Oracoke Village.)

So we reached the end of the pavement, parked, and walked over the sand dune to see this:

November 16

Our last day in this slice of heaven - I'm sad but we're both getting "hitch itch" and time to move on.

Sunrise I took these beauties standing on the steps of our RV as I let Zoey out this morning.  At first I was annoyed that the big house was in the way, but then I realized I was getting a clever shot with it there.

I spent the day inside picking up and putting away the stuff that comes out when we park for a while and Bruce did the same on the outside.  Also, for the very first time in forever, I sat and worked on this blog and finally!  finally! got it caught up to the very day!  Now, if I can just keep it that way.  It's not easy to do sometimes.  Lots of things factor into it - sites to see, available internet, are the pictures downloaded, etc.

We had originally planned to leave today and drive right to a place that I had reserved that I thought was on or near Myrtle Beach.  After re-reading the description of where we were going and looking at the map, I realized I had made a  mistake and we were almost an hour away from the beach.  Now I know that it will be extremely hard to match or surpass the uniqueness of the location here, but I did want to be a bit closer to the ocean.  So I cancelled the original reservation and found us another "free" spot.  We couldn't arrive until the 18th, however, so we asked to stay here an extra day and then we will most likely be spending a WalMart night in between.

Sunset
I took my last walk on the beach and was delighted to find that the entire beach as far as I could see belonged to me!!

The longer I stayed, the prettier it got!

For my grandkids!  Love you!

And one last sunset picture .....

Oh, and here's my sense of humor at work (except it won't right itself!)
