August 15 – Day 31 -
Continuing our adventures in PEI
The first part of our day was spent moving the RV to spot
number three back away from the water and in the pine trees. Then we waited to hear from the College. Our French doctor, Dr. DuPlan, called us in
the morning to let us know that Zoey had a good night and was resting comfortably. They had done some more tests on her but he
felt she was doing better today than yesterday.
We had met a couple from Florida at the “premium” spot the
day before so we walked up to let them know how Zoey was doing. The “it’s a small world” strikes again. We discovered that Ron is originally from
upstate New York and worked at the Duffy-Mott plant in Hamlin for many years –
probably when we lived in Hamlin. Pat
was from the New England area. Ron gave
Bruce a kayak ride and then we shared some Zwigles white hot dogs with them. We are meeting the nicest people on our
journey; this is the best part of RV living!
We hope to see them when we get to Florida. Spending that time with them also took our
minds off of Zoey.
August 16 – Day 32 - Continuing our adventures in PEI
The good doctor called us again in the morning and assured
us that Zoey was really doing well. He
even invited us to come for a visit. It
was so good to see our fur baby; to see her almost back to normal. We felt much relief.

| Gosh, I don't remember her name and neither does Bruce but she worked with the doctor and was so sweet with Zoey! |
We decided to get some groceries and on the way home stopped
at a place we had gone by many times – an ice cream factory located in a
shopping strip. It turned out to be a
“pretend” factory with a large store attached.
The store sold tons of tee-shirts and gimmicks with their motto and of
course, ice cream. We indulged. Yummy!!

August 17 – Day 33 - Continuing
our adventures in PEI
Zoey has been discharged!!
Unfortunately, our Doctor DuPlan had to switch rotations yesterday so he
was not there this morning. Our new
female doctor was either from China or Japan, and she was a little hard to
understand. She also did not seem to
grasp the fact that we lived in our RV and would not be returning home to see
Zoey’s home vet.
So what was wrong with Miss Zoey? Well, the main two problems were Acute
Pancreatitis and high blood pressure.
She also had protein in her urine, an elevated liver enzyme, a slight
heart murmur, degenerative changes in her elbows, two cystic structures on her
kidneys and her adrenal glands were enlarged.
The most serious were the pancreatitis and high blood pressure. Most of the rest were due to aging – we know
about that!
They gave us very few pills to take with and a couple of
prescriptions. And they admonished us to never, ever give her table scraps or dog bones. Poison for her! Which we knew but had been very bad parents about. We bought some good food
for her and eagerly left for home.
We just puttered around the RV again today. We wanted to give Zoey a chance to acclimate
to the surroundings again. We discussed
our trip after leaving here on the 19th. We had originally planned to cross over the
Confederate Bridge back into New Brunswick and camp at Ponderosa Pines CG near the Bay of Fundy and the Hopewell Rocks. We were going to view the rocks and then go a
little further down the road to another CG and then investigate the Fundy Trail Parkway and the Fundy
Trail. But we both thought it might
be best to get our butts back into the United States because of Zoey. I guess we felt it would be easier to deal
with any new problems that might crop up on us in our country, not Canada.
So I worked on our travels, and we both watched the video
about the tides at Fundy so we knew what we missed. That will have to do for this trip!
