"One Day at a Time, 2015” ….. Plymouth, Massachusetts ….. (August 28 – September 7) …..September 8

September 8 – Boston, here we come!!

Our time in Massachusetts has almost come to an end and against my better judgement, we decided that we couldn’t be this close to Boston and not see the city.  We have had such bad luck in the past that we stayed away, but we reasoned that we would only be driving a car, not the rig, and we had directions where to park to get to the tour that we signed up for.

We parked in the Boston Commons garage without any trouble.  When we exited the building, we were in a huge park as far as we could see.  Then we heard the “Town Crier.”  He sat on the ledge of a cemented area calling out to those of us who must have looked lost, pointing out the way to the bathrooms and the visitor center.  His cup for donations sat on the ground in front of him.  If it wasn’t for him, I probably would have peed my pants, and we would still be lost!!  I dropped change in his cup, and we followed his directions to the proper place.

We had signed up for the Boston Hop-on Hop-off Trolley but we didn’t have any intentions of hopping off.  We couldn’t leave Zoey too long, and we didn't know it at the time, but had chosen the hottest day of the year (yup, that’s what we heard later – 97 degrees) to take this tour.  Zoey would be in air conditioning in the RV; we would not!

It was another grand tour.  The driver went at a good pace (don't know how he managed some of those streets) and our tour guide was easy to hear and interesting.  And did we ever see Boston - Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Historic North End (Boston’s Little Italy); the Theater District; Cheers, Copley Square, Fenway Park, Charles Street and Beacon Hill to name a few - with me snapping pictures everywhere.  Not always the best but reminders for later.  There were brand new massive skyscrapers situated next to a church from the 1700s!  We noticed scores of young people on the sidewalks and the guide remarked that the reason for so many young people was the many colleges in and around the city!  And traffic, traffic, traffic!

It was a great tour!  I’m glad we went.  We ran into a bunch of traffic exiting the city but since we knew where we were going this time, it was okay!

Disclosure Note:  I'm afraid it was so long ago that we took the tour that I don't remember what each picture is showing.  I want to get this post posted so I can finish up soon; I'll go back and label these pictures when I have time.

Nice ride!

North End

I think this is the bridge that we were supposed to be going over when we got "lost" a few days ago.
The balcony is where I think the tour guide said the the Declaration of Independence was first  read.

For rent
Tom Brady - first they had "Free Tom Brady" shirts; then they stocked up with these.  Too funny!

Cheers bar

Neat garden on someone's apartment/condo

I like that kind of burger!!

Boston Architectural College is housed in some neat architecture.
Note the statue -- Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio --

This is the building that houses the information center in the park where the Boston Garage is underground.  It was similar to a Visitors Center. This "person" was in there when we left.

Parting shot as we left the city

Would have loved to see this; maybe the next time!

Saw this vehicle on the way home.  I love the 1-800-DoodyCalls

This was not on the way home ... but I thought this was a cute advertisement, too.
