"One Day at a Time, 2015” ….. Maine ….. (August 19 – August 26) …..August 20, 21

August 20 - Thursday - 74.7 Google Miles - Partial Travel Day

Yesterday upon entering the United States, my first call was to Verizon to put our Jetpack (mifi) back into service so we would have internet.  Later in the month when our bill came, we discovered that once again, they had not done what they promised and the bill was incorrect.  After some negotiations and explanations with proof of dates/names of my phone calls, they took over $100.00 off of our bill.

We left our parking spot by the side of the road about 9:25 a.m.  Have you noticed that both Bruce and I don’t seem to be able to get up early anymore?  Oh well, we’re retired!!

We had wanted to get as close to Acadia National Park and not pay an exorbitant fee.  Bruce found the Timberland RV Acres CG, and it was an excellent choice.  Because we were arriving a day earlier than we had expected to, the only hitch was that we had to move after one night.  We seem to have issues like that fairly often,  but we are getting pretty good about packing up for what I call a “mini” move.

I took a walk around the park and then to the souvenir shop next door.  In the shop I picked up a whole bunch of travel books, advertisements and brochures about the area to try to get acquainted with it and discover what we wanted to see.  After Canada we are dismayed to see the commercialization here but realize that that seems to be the way it is in the states.

I met this gentleman in the souvenir shop.  He wanted to talk forever!!

August 21

We pretty much lay low.  It rained some, I did laundry, read a bit and made reservations for our next stop.  We spent a great deal of time on our phones one day - updating and reading - and also updating our computers.  The weather was real iffy; it would start out all foggy so we wouldn't make plans.  Then it would burn off and be nice in the afternoon.  After the second day of that, we decided to go ahead and make reservations on the Olie Trolley for a tour of Acadia National Park and also Bar Harbor.  That will be tomorrow.
